Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how KasiConnect Hub collects, uses, shares and protects personal information, as required by the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

The responsible party is Fhulufhelo Nekabambe, 29 Tshabuse Street, Masia Tshiphuseni. The Information Officer is Fhulufhelo Nekabambe, reachable at fnekabambe@gmail.com or on WhatsApp at 071 405 3740.

• Identity and account details: first name, surname, email address, WhatsApp number, account type (buyer or seller) and a password, which is stored only in encrypted form.
• Address details: the address you give for a seller account or business, and the suburb, town or province you choose for a listing.
• Business details: business name, category, description, website, social media links and approval records.
• Content you post: listings, prices, descriptions, photos, community posts, reports, and messages sent through enquiry or contact forms.
• Google sign-in: if you sign in with Google, the name, email address, verification status and profile picture that Google shares with us.
• Technical and usage information: IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, listing view counts, and the date and time of requests. We use this for security, abuse prevention and statistics.
• Security records: email verification events and sign-in events needed to protect your account.

• To create and secure your account, verify your email address and let you sign in.
• To publish your listings, business profile and community posts, and to show you view counts on your own listings.
• To let buyers send enquiries to sellers, and to show each enquiry to the seller or buyer involved.
• To review businesses and listings, handle reports, and protect members from fraud and abuse.
• To send service messages such as verification emails, approval notices and security alerts.
• To answer contact messages and to meet our legal and accounting obligations.
• We rely on your consent where you give it, on performing our agreement with you, on our legal obligations, and on our legitimate interest in running a safe marketplace. You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that has already happened.

• Other members: when you publish a listing or business, the details you choose to show, such as your business name, listing details, location and WhatsApp contact, are visible to other members and visitors. Share only what you are comfortable making public.
• Service providers: we use trusted providers to host the Platform, store data and images, send email, and run sign-in. They may process your information only to provide their services to us, under written agreements that require confidentiality and security.
• Authorities: we may disclose information where the law requires it, under a court order, or to protect people from serious harm or crime.
• We do not sell your personal information.

• We protect personal information with encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls that limit administrator access, input validation, rate limits, and secret keys kept outside the source code.
• No system is completely secure. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

• We keep personal information while your account is active or while we need it to provide the Platform. After that we keep it only as long as the law requires, for legitimate record-keeping, or to resolve disputes.
• When your account is deleted, we remove your profile, businesses, listings, photos and community posts. Enquiries and reports may be kept in limited form where needed for safety, disputes or legal reasons. Backups are removed in the normal backup cycle.

Content you post on KasiConnect Hub remains yours. You grant us the limited licence described in section 9 of the Terms of Use, so that we can display it on the Platform.

The KasiConnect Hub name, logo, design and software are protected as described in the Terms of Use. Please read the Terms of Use for the full copyright, trade mark and takedown process.

• Under POPIA you may ask whether we hold information about you and receive a copy; ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, out of date, irrelevant or unlawfully obtained; object to processing on legitimate grounds; withdraw consent; and ask us to stop direct marketing.
• To use these rights, email fnekabambe@gmail.com or send a WhatsApp message to 071 405 3740 from the number on your account. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We will respond within a reasonable time and, where POPIA requires, within 30 days.
• We do not send unsolicited marketing messages. You can opt out of any non-essential email by contacting us.

The Platform is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us information without consent, contact us and we will delete it.

• Cookies and browser storage: the Platform uses browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
• Cross-border transfers: some of our service providers store or process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, POPIA requires us to make sure the receiving party is bound by law, binding rules or a contract that protects the information to an adequate standard.

We may update this Privacy Policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. For material changes we will tell members through the Platform or by email before the change takes effect.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact our Information Officer first. You can also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa through its website at https://inforegulator.org.za.
